THE CHALLENGE

Taronga Zoo embarked on a major infrastructure project requiring the establishment of construction compounds at both the Top Station and Bottom Station precincts. As a highly regulated and quarantined environment, the zoo faced unique security challenges throughout the construction phase. Maintaining the integrity of the site’s perimeter was critical to ensure construction activities could proceed without compromising animal containment, public safety, or operational requirements.

Recognising the complexity of securing temporary work zones within an active zoo environment, Taronga Zoo engaged HRC Security to develop and deliver a tailored perimeter security solution that would integrate seamlessly with existing infrastructure while maintaining strict site controls.

Project Scope

Top Station Compound

- Installation of 11-wire electric fencing to temporary hoarding and access gates
- Connection to existing electric fencing infrastructure
- Testing and commissioning

Bottom Station Compound

- Installation of perimeter chain wire fencing
- Connection to existing perimeter fencing
- Installation of 11-wire electric fencing system
- Mesh skirting to eliminate ground-level gaps
- Connection to existing electric fencing infrastructure
- Testing and commissioning
